WHITE LOTUS YOGA EMPTY; WHITE CASTLE PACKED
Sitting alone in the yoga studio this morning, wondering how many classes will be empty this first year, I reconsider my choice of business. Maybe hard work in a hot studio isn't what people want to buy. Maybe I should try selling something more popular like barbecued chicken wings or methamphetamins. People go crazy for that stuff.
I've developed that slightly panicked tone in my voice when I talk to people about the studio, "yeah" I say " definitely come in, try a class, please, will I see you this week?" We've only been open a week so I most likely need to take the advice I give my students, "be patient" I say "there's no rush here, take your time and breathe."
Sounds reasonable.
Remember that study that came out last year that showed the women who lived in and around the city of Flint we're among the most depressed and obese women in the country? Well I was thinking that, uh to put it dumbly, that sucks and I don't know maybe it would be good to change that. But then the HOT DONUTS sign comes on down to the Crispy Creme and people wildly veer across four lanes of traffic to get some.
So is there hope?
I think there is, I sound more cynical than I mean to. Somebody said "Cynicism passes for wisdom among the mediocre."
I will simply observe as I frequently ask my students to do that all things rise and fall. Yeah that's it.
